I wish spellcheck worked on subject lines

Damn it!  I really wanted this one.

Damn it!  I really wanted this one. This was a client I’ve done work with in the past and was trying to re-engage with at a MUCH higher level. Long story short, I worked with their inside team about three years ago and maintained relationships with certain levels of management but was never able to break through to get the larger engagement with the field. I decided to let it breathe for a while and let some of the leadership changes settle in.

Recently I found an article where the CEO talked about a focus on top line growth for FY15 and thought it would be a good opportunity to re-engage while leveraging the prospecting techniques I train on.  So, I put together what I thought was a fairly solid e-mail, double checked it to make sure it was CEO worthy and sent it out. You can see the e-mail below. (I deleted the core content as to not give away too much of the special sauce).

Keep in mind, this is to a CEO of a $2B technology company who used to be a client.  Notice anything wrong with the first word in my subject line? Yeah….awesome.  I’m pretty confident I’m not going to get a response on this one so I tried the self-deprecation approach.  Think it will work?

I just noticed the misspelling in the subject line. Never mind, I don’t deserve the response. Luckily I was only training your team on prospecting skills, not spelling or grammar.
